Professional panel cutting with uncompromising accuracy
The SCM Nova SI 4 is a professional sliding table panel saw designed for accurate sizing, squaring and angled cutting of solid timber, sheet materials and veneered panels.
Its heavy-duty structure, rigid saw unit and precision sliding carriage provide the stability required for consistently clean, repeatable results. Suitable for joinery and furniture manufacturers and other professional woodworking environments, the Nova SI 4 combines straightforward operation with extensive configuration options.
Smooth, accurate sliding carriage
At the heart of the Nova SI 4 is SCM’s anodised aluminium sliding carriage. Its closed, high-rigidity construction minimises flexing while the hardened steel guide system maintains smooth, accurate movement.
The carriage can be locked in any position for greater control when loading, positioning or cutting material. SCM provides a 10-year guarantee on the carriage sliding system, reflecting its long-term reliability.
A 2250 mm carriage is supplied as standard, with 2600, 3200 and 3800 mm versions available. Depending on the selected carriage, the machine can provide a maximum squaring capacity of up to 3800 x 3200 mm.
For shorter table options, see the SCM Nova SI 4S with 1600mm table.
Rigid saw unit for a consistently clean finish
The solid saw unit provides accurate blade positioning and dependable cutting performance. Blade height and tilt are adjusted using conveniently positioned handwheels on the front of the machine, with a mechanical readout for the blade angle.
The standard machine accepts a maximum 315 mm diameter saw blade, providing up to 100 mm blade projection at 90°. The optional 400 mm blade kit increases maximum projection to 140 mm at 90°, making the machine suitable for processing thicker sections.
An independent powered scoring unit can be specified to deliver clean, chip-free cutting of veneered, laminated and other faced panels.
Secure support for large panels
The large squaring frame supports panels throughout the cut and incorporates a telescopic fence with two flip-over stops. An idle loading roller makes it easier to position larger or heavier sheets.
Optional equipment includes digital fence readouts, additional stops, angular cutting devices, the CompeX self-adjusting system and Quick Lock fence arrangements. These allow the Nova SI 4 to be configured around the type and variety of work being processed.
The dedicated rip fence features a rigid cast-iron support, micrometric adjustment and cam locking. A 1000 mm cutting width is standard, with 1270 and 1500 mm capacities available.
SCM Thundercut cutting optimisation
The SCM Thundercut Optimiser/ Sequencer app is included with the Nova SI 4 and can be used on a compatible iPadOS or Android tablet.
Thundercut allows operators to manage materials and panel stock, import cutting lists and optimise the cutting sequence to improve material utilisation. Its graphical 3D sequencer guides the operator through each cut and can also connect to compatible Bluetooth label printers for component identification.
An optional tablet holder can be fitted directly to the sliding carriage, keeping cutting instructions clearly visible to the operator.
Configurable levels of automation
The Nova SI 4 can be supplied with manual adjustment or upgraded with electric and programmable positioning systems.
The optional E2 package provides electric blade lifting and tilting with digital position displays. READY configurations add electronic control of blade height and tilt, automatic correction according to the blade angle and storage for up to 99 programs.
READY 3 versions also incorporate a powered programmable rip fence. Depending on the selected configuration, the powered fence provides a cutting width of up to 1,500 mm and positioning speeds up to 24 m/min. UP versions include a mobile control panel for convenient operation from the working position.
