Wadkin’s story is closely linked to the development of woodworking machinery in the UK. Established in 1897 by John Wadkin, the company was founded on the ambition to create machines capable of replacing manual woodworking operations with greater accuracy and efficiency.

During the First World War, Wadkin supported the RAF by developing machinery capable of producing wooden aircraft propellers at high speed. In the decades that followed, the company continued to innovate, pioneering higher-speed production machines and, in 1956, producing its first numerically controlled woodworking machine — a significant milestone in British manufacturing.

For generations, Wadkin machines have been known for their strength, precision and longevity, with many historic machines still in use today — a testament to the engineering principles on which the brand was built.
