James Jones invests in Salvador angled cutting technology to support pallet and case manufacture

James Jones is one of the UK’s best-known names in timber processing, with operations spanning sawmilling, pallet and packaging manufacture, engineered timber and related products. Within its pallet and case division, the business produces bespoke timber packaging, pallets, cases and specialist solutions for customers across a wide range of industries.

At this site, James Jones needed a safer, more accurate and more efficient way to produce both straight and angled cuts. The business was already familiar with Salvador technology, having invested in several SuperPush and SuperUp crosscut saws supplied by Daltons. The next step was to introduce an automated machine capable of handling angled cutting alongside everyday bulk timber processing.

The Salvador SuperAngle 600 was selected to replace older, more manual cutting methods. Operators can enter the required dimensions through the machine control, load the timber and allow the automated system to feed, position and cut each component accurately.

This has reduced the need for manual measuring and handling, making the process faster, more consistent and easier to manage. Operators can now focus primarily on loading material and removing finished components, helping improve productivity across a varied mix of bespoke and volume work.

Safety was also central to the decision. The SuperAngle 600 provides an enclosed cutting environment, with secure material clamping and guarding around the blade. This keeps operators away from the cutting area while maintaining the speed and precision required for production.
