Description
The Salvador SuperAngle 600 is a programmable optimising crosscut saw designed for fast, accurate straight and angled cutting. Developed as an advanced alternative to traditional crosscutting methods, the SuperAngle 600 combines automatic length measuring, optimisation software, defect detection, servo-controlled positioning and a high-precision rotating saw table in one robust production machine.
It is particularly suited to manufacturers producing components that require repeatable straight and angled cuts, including furniture and joinery, timber frame buildings, garden products, packaging, bed frames, stair components, architectural timberwork and other solid wood applications where accuracy, yield and repeatability are critical.
A key feature of the SuperAngle 600 is its ability to carry out optimised angular cutting. The rotating table is driven by a brushless servo motor and toothed belt system, allowing the saw unit to position quickly and accurately for angled cuts. The machine offers an angle range from +70° to -70°, with optional extension to +/-75° depending on specification. This allows manufacturers to produce a wide range of angled and straight components from cutting lists, while maintaining a controlled and repeatable process.
At the heart of the machine is Salvador’s S4U software and numerical control system, developed to make automatic crosscutting easier to manage, monitor and optimise. The modern interface gives operators clear visibility of cutting lists, board data, machine status, diagnostics and production information through a Windows-based control system. The software allows operators to manage multiple cutting lists, assign quality grades, set priorities and control programme-specific parameters such as blade rise, angle positioning, trim cuts, cutting speed and waste percentage.
Cutting lists can be entered directly at the machine or prepared externally, helping production teams move away from manual measuring, marking and stop-based cutting. S4U also supports production reporting, real-time diagnostics and flexible data handling, making it easier to manage both straight and angled cutting work from a simple, consistent operator interface. The uploaded specification describes the control system as a Windows PC with optimisation software for multiple cutting lists, quality grades, priorities, parameters and waste percentage, with real-time cutting statistics and diagnostics.
The SuperAngle 600 can operate in different production modes, including full cutting list optimisation with or without defecting, fixed cutting, sequential fixed cutting and cut-to-mark operation. Material is loaded onto the infeed table, where the servo-controlled pusher moves the workpiece through the cutting cycle. This allows the machine to optimise around board length, defects, cutting lists, priorities and quality grades, helping operators recover more value from each piece of timber.
The pusher system is built for demanding production use. A heavy-duty pusher carriage is driven by a high-precision toothed belt with a multi-strand steel core and runs on twin external rectified guides for long service life and reduced maintenance. The rear infeed fence is formed from a substantial aluminium beam mounted on a solid steel machine frame and protected by a hard-wearing steel sleeve. A brushless servo drive provides constant power and accurate positioning throughout the cutting cycle.
The sawing unit is designed for precision, safety and flexibility. The SuperAngle 600 can be configured with a 600 mm TCT circular sawblade, with a typical quoted specification offering a 7.5 kW blade motor, variable pusher speed, and cutting capacity up to 310 mm wide at 0°, 220 mm wide at 45°, and 100 mm wide at 70°, based on 160 mm depth. The rotating table is mounted on a precision bearing system and can move from +70° to -70° in around one second, with angle positioning accuracy of +/-0.1°.
During cutting, the workpiece is held securely by independent pneumatic top pressure stops and side alignment pressures. These clamps work before and after the cutting line, helping to hold the timber securely depending on the angle being cut. This controlled clamping system is especially important when cutting angled components where stability, squareness and repeatability are critical.
Further productivity options can be added to suit the required production flow. These include automatic chain loading, cell singularisation, fast version for higher reading and pushing speeds, automatic outfeed belt conveyor with ejection, second outfeed screen, label printing, waste trap door, left-to-right feed configuration, touch screen control, remote assistance and Industry 4.0 production monitoring.
For applications requiring additional operations, the SuperAngle 600 can also be specified with a drilling unit. This allows boring and countersinking operations to be carried out in combination with straight and angled crosscutting, helping reduce secondary handling and improve production flow where drilled or prepared components are required.
